THIS PAGE IS OUT OF DATE

The map editor has been removed from the game pending a recreation and upgrade of the tools. It will be brought back most likely after launch.

Hi, so if you clicked here, you want to know more on how to design and do a map. This is going to be divided in three sections.

Making a map

1

Sketching a map

2

Ok, so you want to make a map. No, you will not dive head first in the editor. I personally recommend starting with a sketch, doing the layout of the map. If you can't make something that satisfies you, then start by something you like. Here, I will take a map that almost everyone knows (and love) Dust II (1). If you chose to start from an existing layout, then change the paths, move things, add floors, while also having always in mind how it will play(2).

Building it in the editor

3

Ok, now you want to go in the editor and focus in building just a playable map, with the bare minimum, without adding any unnecessary detail. This is because you will need to tweak things lots of time, and the less you need to remove, the better.

Details and Theme

4

After you polished the map, you will need to add props, making the map look cool and giving it a theme.(4)
